If you are staying with us in Jibhi and want a day that feels a little different from waterfalls and cafés, Serolsar Lake is a lovely choice. We are often asked what it is like, so here is what we can share as your hosts.
What Serolsar Lake looks like
Serolsar is a green mountain lake ringed by pine forest. It is the kind of place where the water, the trees and the hills all seem to settle into one quiet picture. On the hillside above the lake there is a small temple, which adds to the calm feeling of the spot.
We keep this description simple on purpose. Mountain places change with the season and the weather, and a lake looks different on a bright day than on a cloudy one. We would rather you see it with your own eyes than arrive expecting something we over-promised.
Why people add it to a Jibhi trip
Jibhi is a quiet village in Himachal Pradesh's Banjar Valley, known for forested hills, traditional wooden homes, waterfalls and a slower pace of life. Serolsar Lake fits that mood well. It is a place for taking your time rather than ticking things off a list.
Many guests like it as a gentler option on a day when they do not want a long trek. If you prefer something more active, the Raghupur Fort trek is there for you instead, and you can choose between the two based on how you feel that morning.
Fitting it into your days
Our suggested two-day plan looks like this:
- Day one: Jibhi Waterfall and Mini Thailand, then some time in the small cafés of Jibhi.
- Day two: Jalori Pass, then either the Raghupur Fort trek or Serolsar Lake.
So Serolsar Lake works nicely as the second half of your second day, after a trip to Jalori Pass, or as your main outing if you want an easier pace. You can read more about all of these places on our things to do in Jibhi page.
Before you set out
Conditions in the mountains change, and every season has its own mood, from green summers to cold, quiet winters. Please check with us before travelling so that we can tell you how things stand on the day you plan to go. We do not publish distances or timings here, because we would rather give you current, honest information in person than a number that may not hold.
Coming back to the homestay
After a day out, it is nice to return to somewhere comfortable. Jibhi Emberwood is a homestay in Village Bartidhar with nine rooms in four categories: Standard Room, Deluxe Room with Balcony, Deluxe Double Room with Balcony, and a duplex-style Family Suite with Balcony. Every category has mountain views, and the rooms are pine-panelled. The balcony rooms look over the village, terraced fields and pine forest.
Our café has wooden seating and mountain views, and guests tell us they enjoy breakfast and dinner there. Free Wi-Fi and free parking are included for every guest, and there is a kettle in the room for boiling water. If the weather allows, a bonfire can be arranged on request, charged separately. You can look at the rooms to see which one suits you.
Planning your stay
Check-in is from 1:00 pm and check-out is by 10:30 am. Pets are welcome too; a charge may apply, so please tell us in advance. If you are still working out how to get here, our how to reach Jibhi page has the details, and you can find more ways to reach us on the contact page.
