Jalori Pass Day Trip from Jibhi

Planning a day trip to Jalori Pass from Jibhi? Here is how we suggest fitting it into your stay, and what to check before you set out.

Ask our guests what they remember most from a stay in Jibhi, and many will mention Jalori Pass. It is a mountain pass that guests visit as a day trip from the village, and it is one of the days out we recommend most often. Here is how we think about planning it, so that you enjoy the journey as much as the destination.

Why Jalori Pass is worth a day

Jibhi itself is a quiet village in the Banjar Valley, known for forested hills, traditional wooden homes and a slower pace of life. Jalori Pass gives you a different side of the mountains. After a day or two of village walks and café afternoons, a day on the pass is a nice change of scene.

Because it is a full day out, we suggest treating it as the main plan for that day rather than squeezing too much around it.

Where it fits in your stay

If you are staying with us for two days, this is how we usually suggest arranging things:

  • Day one: Jibhi Waterfall and Mini Thailand, then a slow afternoon at the cafés.
  • Day two: Jalori Pass, followed by either the Raghupur Fort trek or a visit to Serolsar Lake.

Starting with the easier day lets you settle into the mountains first. You can read more ideas on our things to do in Jibhi page.

If you have more time, you can give Jalori Pass a day entirely to itself and keep the other days unhurried.

Check conditions before you go

This is the part we would like every guest to take seriously. Mountain roads and weather can change, so please check road and weather conditions locally before you set out. We do not want to quote timings or road details that may be out of date, so the best thing to do is ask us or message us before you leave. We are happy to tell you what we know on the day.

A few simple habits help on any mountain day out:

  • Tell us where you are going before you leave.
  • Carry water and something to eat.
  • Keep your phone charged.
  • Dress in layers, since mountain weather can shift.
  • Wear comfortable shoes with good grip.

Combining it with the rest of your day

After Jalori Pass, you have two lovely options from our suggested plan. If you are feeling energetic, the Raghupur Fort trek takes you up to a ridge with views of a snow-capped Himalayan range. Please check trail conditions first, as it is a more active day. If you would rather keep things gentle, Serolsar Lake is a green mountain lake ringed by pine forest, with a small temple on the hillside above it.

Either way, you can come back to Jibhi Emberwood and relax. Our café has wooden seating and mountain views, and guests often mention breakfast and dinner there. Free Wi-Fi, free parking and a kettle for boiling water are included for every guest, so a cup of something hot after a day on the road is easy to arrange.
